A New “Public Media Platform”

At Wired Magazine’s Disruptive by Design conference earlier this week, NPR president and CEO Vivian Schiller unveiled a new Public Media Platform, designed for content sharing among NPR, PBS, American Public Media, Public Radio International and the Public Radio Exchange distribution network.

I’m not sure exactly what this will mean for those of us producing television programs for local PBS stations, but as Wired Magazine described it, the “program … will allow [the partners] – and eventually the public itself — to build apps, stations, websites and other media services combining audio, text and video content from every public radio and television outlet in the country.”
