A Big Move in Local News Sites

From the folks that brought you Politico, a new local news site called TBD will launch next week in Washington, D.C. TBD personnel include General Manager Jim Brady, the former editor of washingtonpost.com, editor Erik Wemple, Steve Buttry, Director of Community Engagement, and Steve Chaggaris. Paul Farhi on washingtonpost.com says the site will initially be primarily a news aggregator. “A few of the many local-news sites around the country are making a profit,” writes Farhi, “but the mortality rate is high, even for wealthier entrants.” Read the full article here.
